Insider: Tottenham backed to announce signing on New Year’s Day after Gaichi Kamada update
Tottenham could announce the signings of Gaichi Kamada and others during the first week of the January transfer window.
That is according to Spurs expert John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
On 7 December, BILD reported Tottenham’s interest in signing attacking midfielder Kamada, 26, in January, ahead of his contract expiring at the end of the current campaign.
Wenham claims a pre-contract deal could be announced on the first day of the January transfer window with talks already possibly ongoing.
“We will already be hard at work ahead of the January window,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“It’s a notoriously hard window to get deals done in. Just cast your mind back to last January, we were linked with so many players and failed to get any of them until Kulusevski and Bentancur came in right at the end.
“With the World Cup being on, maybe it has been slightly easier to focus minds at Spurs and a bit easier to talk to clubs’ representatives about doing deals.
“The Kamada deal I mentioned before, that’s the perfect example. We need to be talking to this guy’s agent now so we can get a pre-contract done on the first day of the window.
“There is no point waiting any longer than we have to so hopefully we could see a couple of players arrive in that first week.”

Kamada made a name for himself during Frankfurt’s Europa League-winning campaign last season as he scored five goals in the competition.
His form has continued into 2022-23 as he has found the net 12 times in 22 games, including one at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last month.
In other news, a Tottenham expert has named Rodrigo Bentancur ‘sreturn date after a medical update.
