Insider: Tottenham can ‘kick Arsenal in the teeth’ by completing ‘brilliant’ Toure deal

Tottenham can deliver a “kick in the teeth to Arsenal” by pulling off the “brilliant” appointment of Yaya Toure as a coach.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

On 1 December, Sky Sports reported Toure, 38, is working alongside Spurs academy coaches Dean Rastrick and Chris Powell on an informal basis to gain experience.

The former Manchester City midfielder is not being employed by the club as he gains experience while working for his coaching badges.

However, the Evening Standard (1 December) claimed Toure is “open” to accepting a formal role at the club if the opportunity arises.

Wenham claims Toure joining the coaching staff would be a “brilliant” move.

“Tottenham are always looking for good coaches,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“Toure brings a wealth of experience, he’s also a serial winner.

“He played at the top level for Manchester City and Barcelona. I am completely open to him joining.

“He lives in London so that works. It would also be a kick in the teeth to Arsenal considering the links to his brother.

“For the young players, who better to learn from. It would be a real coup.

“If we could accommodate another coach I would rather it was Yaya instead of someone who doesn’t have his history in the game.

“It would be a brilliant move.”

Toure won three Premier League’s during his time with Man City.

He also won the Champions League with Barcelona.
