Insider: Tottenham have tried to sell Sanchez in part-exchange for star with £68.5m release clause

Jules Kounde and Pau Torres both rejected summer moves to Tottenham.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Kounde, 23, and Torres, 24, are regular starters for Sevilla and Villarreal respectively.

Kounde has made 13 appearances in all competitions this season while Torres has scored one goal in 14 total outings.

Wenham has revealed Spurs offered Davinson Sanchez as part of a deal to sign the defender, who has a £68.5million release clause.

He also explained Tottenham’s failure to qualify for the Champions League was a major factor in bith players’ decisions.

“Over the summer there was some interest in Sanchez,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“I know we offered him to Sevilla as part of a deal for Jules Kounde but he turned us down.

“He said he wanted to play Champions League football so that’s fair enough.

“I don’t mind players turning us down if we are asking ambitious questions.

“It was the same with Pau Torres, I’m glad we did ask the question to see if he was available.

“Obviously they didn’t come off. Maybe they are two names Tottenham will look at in the futute.”

Tottenham signed Cristian Romero in a loan to buy deal from Atalanta to bolster their backline in the summer.

Bryan Gil was also signed from Sevilla to give Tottenham another option in attack.
