Insider: Tottenham in line for Bergwijn U-turn after ‘brilliant’ development
Steven Bergwijn could stay at Tottenham in January after dazzling against West Ham last week.
That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
Bergwijn, 24, picked up a goal and an assist as Tottenham beat West Ham 2-1 in the Carabao Cup last week (22 December).

This comes after ESPN reported (`10 December), Antonio Conte does not see the attacker as part of his plans and could sanction a January exit.
Wenham has suggested Conte could u-turn on this reported decision after Bergwijn’s promising performance.
“It was a brilliant performance from him, getting a goal and an assist,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“I actually was a bigger fan of the assist than the goal. He has that ability to skip past his man and create space.
“He doesn’t do it often enough for me. I don’t know if it’s a confidence thing.
“He did that when he first joined us. Every chance he had he would try and skip past his man.
“That’s been drilled out of him over the last 12 months or so. He now takes the easy option and passes it back more often than not.
“To see him take someone on was great, he has top speed and great footwork.
“He needs to be doing that in the box more often, he created the space and Lucas managed to score.

“I want to see more of that. That is then another option for Conte.
“He looked certain to go in January but if he can push for a starting spot that can only be good news for Tottenham.”
