Insider: Tottenham in line to seal Markanday double deal by January

Dilan Markanday is in line to sign a new Tottenham contract and then go out on loan in January.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Markanday, 20, is wanted by more than 10 EFL and Scottish clubs going into the January window after making a big impact for the Tottenham Under-23s.

Markanday has made a big impression this season in Premier League 2, scoring 11 goals in 13 games.

He is out of contract at the end of the season but speculation he could leave is wide of the mark.

“I fully expect he will stay at Tottenham,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“I think with the interviews he’s given over the last weeks and months have very much been an indication of that.

“He said something like he wants to be here for the next 15 years. I know he’s a Tottenham fan as well.

“I expect something will be worked out. This is just his agent doing his job and trying to get the best deal for his client.

“He’s consistently improved over the last 18-months and I’m sure all parties will come to an agreement that reflects that.

“Any links with a permanent move are hard to believe, as I said I think it’s just the agent doing his job.

“I fully expect Markanday to sign a new contract before heading out on loan in January.”

Markanday made his Spurs senior debut in the 1-0 defeat to Vitesse Arnhem earlier this season.

He became the first British-Asian to play for Tottenham at the time.
