Insider issues verdict on Totenham beating West Ham to Traore signing after Irons source update

Adama Traore is “a steal” at £18million but it would still be a “gamble” for Tottenham to sign him.

That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

A West Ham source told Football Insider on Wednesday (12 January), that the club have registered their interest in Traore as they look to provide competition for London rivals Tottenham.

A Wolves source told this site on 5 January that the 25-year-old may be available for just £18million after being valued at £50m in August.

Wenham claims anything less than £20million would be a “steal” for the attacker.

“It’s a funny one, if you look at the numbers you wonder why we want to sign this guy,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“He’s got no goals and no assists but we all know where his assets are.

“I’ve seen enough Tottenham games where he has caused all kinds of problems.

“There was a passage of play a few years ago when two of our players got booked for trying to haul him to the floor essentially.

“I just wonder if him causing those problems will open space for Son, Kane and Moura to work their magic.

“It’s a really interesting one. I don’t think he’s had the chance to work under a manager like Conte.

“If he can add some end product to the incredible natural assets he has, he could be a steal for £20million.

“Or, because he has no goals or assists this season he could completely flop. I really don’t know what to make of this one.

“When I see him play, he looks like a player you want but the stats don’t lie.

“He’s the reason you go and watch football though, he gets you off your seats.

“I don’t think I’m against this and maybe it is worth a gamble. At the price being quoted I can see us sticking a bid in.”
