International legend: Tottenham attacker can break this goalscoring record (not Kane)

South Korean legend Cha Bum-kun believes Tottenham attacker Son Heung-Min has what it takes to break his goalscoring record.
Cha, who is regarded as the nation’s all-time best footballer, currently holds the record for the most goals scored by a South Korean in Europe during a single season with 19 goals.
The record has stood for an incredible 31 years, but former Bayer Leverkusen star Cha believes Son can set a new goalscoring record during the current campaign.
He told South Korean news outlet Yonhap News Agency: “It feels nice that Son has brought this forgotten man to the surface. Judging from his form and the number of matches remaining, I think Son will break my record.
“I think it’s not important how many goals you can score in the league. Back then, the situation was a little different than today, but still, scoring that many goals show how great a scorer he is.

“It’s not an easy thing to have double-digit goals in a season. There is a reason why top clubs in Europe want to sign a player who can score an average of 10 goals a season.”
Son, 24, netted a superb brace during the 4-0 demolition of Watford in the Premier League on Saturday, meaning he is now just one goal shy of the current record with 18 goals in all competitions.
The Tottenham attacker has also become the first Asian player to reach double figures in goals in a single Premier League season, and is enjoying his most prolific campaign to date.
His previous best was his 17-goal haul for Bayer Leverkusen during the 2014-15 campaign, his final season for the German club before his £22million move to Tottenham.
But his recent goalscoring streak has come at an ideal time for the Premier League club, with premier goalscoring option Harry Kane having been sidelined with an ankle injury.
Son netted four goals from his four appearances in Kane’s absence.
