International midfielder jets in for Rangers talks - report
By Derek Smithson
Mexico international Carlos Pena is travelling to Glasgow to hold discussions with Rangers about a potential move, according to a report.
The Daily Record claim that the Gers have already had negotiations with the 27-year-old’s parent club Guadalajara about the transfer.
It is understood that Pedro Caixinha wants to sign the midfielder and the Scottish club will offer him a three-year contract when they meet in person.
The report details that Pena will be allowed to leave Mexican club Leon, where he has spent the second half of the season on loan.
Pena is yet to experience club football outside of his homeland, but looks to be offered the chance to play in Scotland.

Rangers will be able to offer the Europa League next season and Caixinha is believed to be improving his squad to help them compete with champions Celtic.
Caixinha is believed to be a big fan of Pena and is well aware of his talents after previously managing in the Mexican league.
The central midfielder has 19 international caps for Mexico and did play in the 2014 World Cup, but has just dropped out of the squad recently.
He will be hoping he can rekindle his best form at Ibrox and his versatility means he can be used in more advanced areas if needed.
Football Insider verdict:
Rangers lacked an authoritative figure in the centre of the park last season and desperately need someone who can take a game by the scruff of the neck. They have decent players in the likes of Josh Windass, Jason Holt and Andy Halliday, but they were constantly blown apart by a powerful Celtic side in their old firm clash. Pena could be the perfect solution to their problem and Caixinha is keen on his signature. The 27-year-old is a combative midfielder and could add some extra grit to the tam. Caixinha is expected to bring in several new players in the summer and kicking off with a full international would be a good start.
