Ipswich star Clarke undergoing Sheffield United medical as deal agreed – sources

Ipswich defender Harry Clarke is undergoing a medical at Sheffield United on Wednesday (29 January) ahead of a loan move, sources have told Football Insider.

A number of Championship clubs have shown an interest in Clarke, but the Blades have moved quickly to agree a loan deal for the former Arsenal man.

The 23-year-old played a key role in Ipswich’s promotion to the Premier League last season but has seen his role reduced in the top flight.

Clarke has made just eight appearances across all competitions for Kieran McKenna’s side in the 2024-25 campaign.

He has started in just four of those outings and has played 395 minutes of action in total.

The defender rejoined Ipswich two years ago after leaving Arsenal on a free transfer and is under contract at Portman Road until June 2026.

McKenna’s side also have the option to extend his deal by a further 12 months.

Clarke made 39 appearances across all competitions for Ipswich in their famous Championship promotion campaign, notching one goal and one assist.

He primarily plays as a right-back but can also feature on the left side of the defence.
