Ipswich Town and West Ham race to sign Jacob Greaves – sources
Ipswich Town have joined West Ham in the race to sign Hull City defender Jacob Greaves, sources have told Football Insider.
The Tractor Boys will face competition as the Londoners are also pursuing the 23-year-old, but Ipswich have now registered their interest in him.
The Hammers were close to agreeing a deal for the defender, but talks have stalled, opening up the opportunity for Ipswich to potentially swoop in.
Greaves isn’t out of contract until 2026, and has been with Hull City since 2019, although he spent his first season on loan to Cheltenham Town.
Jacob Greaves has been a key member of the Hull City squad
While West Ham and Ipswich are trying to sign him, a move for Greaves would leave a big hole in the Hull City defence.
The 23-year-old has been a key part of the squad throughout his time with the club, having made 177 appearances to date.
Greaves played in almost every game last season in the Championship for Hull City, featuring 43 times while he also contributed offensively with two goals and four assists.
While the Tigers narrowly missed out on the playoffs last season, a potential move to either Ipswich or West Ham would provide Greaves with the chance to step up to the Premier League, which could be enticing.

Bolstering the defensive side of the squad is high on Ipswich’s priority list this summer as they prepare for life in the top flight.
In other news, West Ham are in talks to sign multiple Spanish stars.
