Ipswich Town complete paperwork on two new hires – sources

Ipswich Town have confirmed the official appointment of two new directors at Portman Road, sources have told Football Insider.

As per submissions made to Companies House on Wednesday (14 August), Matt Holland and Marc Lasry have now joined the club’s board.

Holland signed for the Suffolk-based side in 1997 and scored 45 goals in 314 appearances during his six-year spell at Portman Road.

The former Ipswich captain and club ambassador also earned 49 caps for the Republic of Ireland during his 17-year professional career.

The 50-year-old has been joined on the board by Lasry following the completion of US-based Bright Path Sports Partners’ successful fundraising, which has taken its ownership of the club to 44 per cent.

The Moroccan-American billionaire was previously co-owner of NBA franchise Milwaukee Bucks and brings a wealth of experience in both sports and business.

The 64-year-old is the co-founder and chief executive of Avenue Capital – one of the partners in Bright Path’s investment in Ipswich.

Holland and Lasry now make up part of a six-man board, which includes chairman Mark Ashton, chief operating officer Luke Werhun, chief financial officer Tom Ball and director Berke Bakay.

Ipswich board reshuffle comes after Premier League return secured

Ipswich have enjoyed a huge upturn in fortunes over the past couple of years after back-to-back promotions secured their long-awaited return to the Premier League.

The Suffolk club had spent 22 years outside of the top flight before Kieran McKenna led them to a second-place finish in the Championship last season.

Kalvin Phillips has become the newly-promoted side’s eighth signing of the summer window after joining on loan from Manchester City.
