Ipswich Town fans react unanimously to Zan Vipotnik’s double vs Sheffield Wednesday
Zan Vipotnik was in fine form as Swansea City decimated Sheffield Wednesday 4-0 at Hillsborough on Sunday.
West Ham were linked with a move for Vipotnik in January, but the Hammers eventually opted for Taty Castellanos.
The 23-year-old claimed his 14th and 15th league goals of the season, with his strikes surrounded by goals from Goncalo Franco and Malick Yalcouye.
Sheffield Wednesday have now gone nine Championship games without scoring, with Henrik Pedersen under huge pressure despite the troubles at Hillsborough this season.
Pedersen is among the favourites to be sacked, with new owners expected to take over Sheffield Wednesday imminently.
Ipswich Town fans dream of Zan Vipotnik move
Vipotnik has been in stunning form, scoring five goals and providing an assist across his last five games.
On Sunday, he was dazzling, taking six shots in total and proving a constant threat throughout the 90 minutes.
His first goal, however, came from a free kick. Just outside the box, the Slovenia international lined up and struck a thumping strike into the net.

The shot had actually been just above the head of goalkeeper Murphy Cooper, but was way too powerful for the Englishman to have tipped over.
There was more of a composure around Vipotnik’s second goal, with the striker taking a touch inside his defender before firing low into the bottom corner.
Ipswich Town are among the clubs to have been linked with a move for the 23-year-old, and their fans were keen to demand his signature after Sunday’s display.
One wrote on social media: “Imagine if we had a striker like Vipotnik”. And, in a similar sentiment, another wrote: “We really should have broke the bank for that Vipotnik”.
Ipswich fan Stephen demanded “get that Vipotnik to Portman Road”, with the feeling clear among the Tractor Boys.
Swansea fans will be happy to have the Slovenia international until at least the summer, but some appear resigned to the fact that he will be leaving if he continues his form.
“We’ll be lucky to keep Vipotnik here next season,” wrote one fan, while another posted: “Vipotnik sold in the summer is a bigger heartbreak than any I’ve ever experienced.”
Will Hughes, a Swansea fan, wrote: “Vipotnik took his chances well, the more he scores the more we’ll get for him in the summer.”
What has Vipotnik said about his future?
Vipotnik has reportedly attracted huge interest from clubs in both the Premier League and elsewhere in Europe.
At just 23, the striker already looks a quality option with plenty of room to develop in the coming years.
Speaking before the winter transfer window opened, Vipotnik was asked about the speculation and said: “It’s nice to hear because everyone is dreaming of playing somewhere, but I’m focused on Swansea.
“It’s December. I want to score as many goals as I can and I hope that in the next game I’ll score again to help the team win, and we’ll see what happens.”
Swansea will be well aware that those questions will resurface in the summer, with an answer expected.
