Jackie McNamara has suggested that Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos is happy to remain at Ibrox despite being at the heart of transfer speculation all summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Scotland international says that Steven Gerrard might not know exactly what is going through the Colombian’s mind but that the hitman looks content at remaining with the Gers.

Morelos was said to have been the subject of a late £10million bid from Championship side West Brom before Thursday’s transfer deadline in England, although the South American star remained to lead the line against Midtjylland in their Europa League qualifier.

McNamara says that he does not think Morelos is pushing for the exit at Ibrox and insists that Rangers will be looking for a reasonable price if they are to let him leave.

McNamara told Football Insider: “I think they’re looking at the prices, what other players are going for, how much it’s going to take to replace him. That will be in their thought process.

“Gerrard said that he’d like him to come out and say what he wants and obviously we haven’t heard anything. Obviously, a big bid came in but you don’t know if the boy is desperate to go, he looks happy at Rangers.

“Maybe that’s why Steven said that, he doesn’t know what his thoughts are.”

Morelos has enjoyed a bright start to the 2019/20 campaign after hitting 30 goals last season, with five goals and two assists in his opening six games across all competitions.

While the English transfer window slammed shut on Thursday ahead of the start of the Premier League season, Scottish teams, as well as many in Europe, have until the start of September to conduct their business.

In other Rangers news, it can be REVEALED that the door has swung back open for the return of an Ibrox favourite after developments in England.
