Paul Dickov has slated Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho for the “load of changes” he made against Arsenal ahead of the Tottenham clash on Sunday.
Former Premier League midfielder, Dickov believes that decision “backfired” on the club’s senior man, who is looking to win the Europa League.
Prior to the defeat at the Emirates, United had played a Europa League semi-final first leg match against Celta Vigo three days before.
Mourinho’s team, who sit outside of the top four, are hoping to secure Champions League football next term by winning that competition.
Therefore, he decided to make eight changes for the Arsenal game, a route Dickov believes, he can take again against Spurs at the weekend.
“Who knows what team Jose Mourinho is going to pick with them playing Celta Vigo just before it,” Dickov told BetSafe’s YouTube account. “He made a load of changes against Arsenal and it backfired on him.
“Last game at White Hart Lane, Spurs all day long”.
Mauricio Pochettino’s team suffered their own costly away at West Ham last Friday, which has now given leaders Chelsea a massive opportunity to win the title.
Antonio Conte’s side will travel to the Hawthorns to take on West Brom on Friday night, knowing three points will secure the title.
They beat relegated Middlesbrough on Monday night, which gives them momentum going into their Friday night clash.
Nonetheless, Spurs will be hoping to pick up all three points against United in their final match at the Lane.
The north London club have not been beaten in all competitions in front of their own supporters their term, most recently beating rivals Arsenal.
