'It stinks' - Everton fans will turn on Benitez against Tottenham after confirmed news

It is “worrying times” for Everton and Sunday’s game “stinks” of a Tottenham win, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker suggested the Goodison Park faithful will turn on Rafael Benitez if they do not get a result against Spurs.

They will face a revitalised Tottenham at the weekend after they replaced Nuno Espirito Santo with Antonio Conte.

A loss for Everton would make it four consecutive Premier League defeats.

Their last game at Goodison Park saw them concede four goals in the final 10 minutes as they fell to a 5-2 defeat to Watford.

“It’s worrying times,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“You look at the next game, who do you not want to play? Spurs at home.

“It stinks of a Spurs win. A first Premier League win under Antonio Conte.

“[It will be] a negative reception at Goodison Park. The Everton fans have got every right. The first 50, 60 minutes, especially the first half, at Wolves was shocking. It was like a team that had never played together before.

“It’s worrying times for Everton, they need to get a result against Spurs at home.

“At Goodison Park, the fans haven’t given Benitez any stick because he’s been getting results. Now the results are starting to turn, they will turn on him.”

Everton won their opening three Premier League games at Goodison Park this season.

Defeats in their last two home games puts them fifth in the Premier League table based on home games.
