‘It will happen at end of the window’ – Tottenham ready move for ‘surprising’ Son replacement

Tottenham remain strongly interested in signing Man United star Alejandro Garnacho this summer, according to their former scout.

Mick Brown, who also worked as the chief scout at Man United for over a decade and remains very well-connected at his former clubs, exclusively told Football Insider that their move for the 21-year-old will accelerate if an acceptable offer for Son Heung-min arrives.

The South Korea international has been heavily linked with a move away from North London this summer, with a number of MLS and Saudi Pro League clubs interested.

Brown told Football Insider last month that Tottenham are preparing an offer for Garnacho and will rival the likes of Chelsea and Aston Villa for his signature.

Man United are keen to sell to the highest bidder, while Spurs view him as an option to bolster Thomas Frank’s attacking options out wide.

This comes after Brown told Football Insider that Garnacho wants to stay in the Premier League and has told his agent to find him a club at the highest level.

Tottenham plan to make Alejandro Garnacho move

Brown told Football Insider on 10 July that Man United will slash Garnacho’s asking price after struggling to drum up interest in a move at their £50million price tag.

The former scout, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted that the deal could depend on Son’s future and whether he remains at Spurs.

Alejandro Garnacho is certainly one of the names on Tottenham’s list,” he told Football Insider.

“It looks like they might be losing Son, whether that’s to the MLS or the Saudi league, so they are already looking at options to replace him.

“Garnacho has been a very impressive player for Man United.

“He’s got loads of promise and I’m surprised Amorim is so willing to let him go.

“I think he’d be an excellent addition for Tottenham and he’s definitely one they are interested in.

“The only issue I have is what the price tag will be, because Man United publicly pushing him out has shown their hand, they need to get rid of him.

“They’re going to struggle to get big money for him so they might have to drop the asking price.

“I think it’s one that will happen in the closing stages of the window, when United need to sell and Tottenham can take advantage of that situation.

“As I say, particularly if they lose Son, because he’s going to need replacing.”

Thomas Frank eyes Jack Grealish after Gibbs-White snub

Garnacho is not the only attack-minded player being linked with a move to Spurs this summer as they remain interested in a move to sign Jack Grealish.

Brown told Football Insider on 29 July that Tottenham could step up their interest in Grealish after missing out on a deal to sign Morgan Gibbs-White.

Spurs are aiming to add a new attacking midfield option to their squad, but the England international’s ability to play out wide is seen as a valuable asset.

Football Insider first and exclusively revealed in November that Tottenham are interested in signing Grealish amid growing doubts about his future at the Etihad.
