'It'd be Unbelievable signing' - Exclusive: Hutton in awe of player Rangers trying to land
Alan Hutton insists that Liverpool starlet Curtis Jones would be an “unbelievable signing” for Rangers in their pursuit of Celtic.
The former Gers and Scotland defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, believes the teenager has the quality to help his old side chase down their Glasgow rivals at the top of the Premiership table.
As revealed by Football Insider, Rangers are looking to reignite their hunt for the 19-year-old this summer after failing with two loan bids back in January.
The attacking midfielder has been on the fringes of Jurgen Klopp’s senior side this season, featuring in the likes of the FA Cup.
Despite his lack of senior game time, Hutton believes the teen gem is exactly what Gerrard needs in his side to close the gap to Celtic.
Hutton told Football Insider: “I think it’d be an unbelievable signing, to be honest. He’s come through the ranks at Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp obviously trusts him, he’s put him into some decent size games.

“You can see he’s a classy player, always in control of the ball, finding space, head on a swivel. These are the type of players Gerrard can attract.
“For Rangers moving forward, these are the calibre of player – even though he’s so young you can tell that he’s a quality player – these are the players Rangers need to push on I think and match Celtic.”
Jones has nine first-team appearances under his belt at Anfield, the majority of which have come in cup competitions.
He made his Premier League debut with a 14-minute cameo against Bournemouth back in December.
