‘It’s a circus’ – Ruben Amorim left reeling by two Man United stars who’ve questioned his authority
Ruben Amorim must sort out issues off the pitch to enable Man United to climb the Premier League table.
That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who thinks Amorim is working with “instability” at Man United.
Man United drew 4-4 with Bournemouth last time out, with the Red Devils now sitting just two points off the top four.
Bruno Fernandes said post-match that Man United tried to sell him during the summer transfer window, saying he didn’t leave due to his “love” for the club.
Ruben Amorim has ‘another issue to handle’
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – has heard a rumour that Amorim may change formation.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness is intrigued where Amorim will look to strengthen his squad next.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “So let’s see where he goes. He fixes the forwards, and then he’s got problems in defence. He thinks he’s fixed the goalkeeper, then he hasn’t. Midfield’s okay.
“And then we’ve now got Bruno Fernandes coming out with an interview, very similar to the Mo Salah one that surfaced saying that, you know, did the club want him out? So again, that can be another issue he’s got to handle. You’ve got Kobbie Mainoo’s brother wearing his free Kobbie Mainoo t-shirt against Bournemouth.
“All these off-pitch distractions are all part of the Man United circus. But Amorim has got to focus on getting consistency. And I don’t know whether he’s changing the formation internally or not. There have been rumours he’s looking at it. That would lead to more instability. So you’ve just got to see, you’ve got to hope for him that he can actually get that consistency going. Whereas at the moment, it’s sorely lacking.”

Man United have clear Amorim target
Amorim is under pressure to ensure Man United qualify for next season’s Champions League, amid their latest financial results.
Man United also need to sell fringe players in the squad to improve their financial picture, with Marcus Rashford likely to stay at Barcelona when his loan expires next summer.
The Portuguese boss though is showing signs of progress on the pitch, after the club finished 15th last season in the Premier League.
