‘It’s amazing’ – Tottenham dressing room ‘turning against Thomas Frank’ after bust-up
Tottenham’s number one priority in the January transfer window must be to add a striker to the squad.
That is according to ex-Aberdeen and Everton and Aston Villa chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who does not think Spurs‘ current options are good enough to support Thomas Frank.
Spurs fans are turning against Frank for his style of play, which has been criticised for being too defensive, especially in defeats against Arsenal and Chelsea.
Frank wants to add a striker and a winger to the Spurs squad in January, with Man City winger Savinho a top target.
Striker ‘absolutely imperative’ at Spurs
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – thinks Spurs should be looking to add two forwards alongside Savinho in the transfer window.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness states that Frank has still yet to change the perception of Spurs.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “It is absolutely imperative. Mathys Tel hasn’t really turned on the afterburners for them.
“Richarlison has certainly been contributing, but he’s not the star striker they really need or they want. Solanke has suffered. Spurs definitely need a presence up front, probably need two players up front along with Savino.
“So let’s see, but I think that is their imperative area. We know that Mickey van de Ven in the defence is probably not that bad. Midfield is just about passable, but I think it is going to be up front that Spurs need something.
“And what’s been surprising is the style of play that I really believed in Thomas Frank. He was going to come in and get this sorted out. But there are questions about the way that the players are responding to him at the moment. And that’s very surprising to me, given how he operated at Brentford.
“So there’s this disquiet once again in Spurs. It’s amazing. I mean, we talk about Spurs and I thought they’d shaken that tag off with Thomas Frank, but here we are again seeing a very Spursy display at the weekend against Arsenal.”

Randal Kolo Muani shows promise in PSG defeat
Spurs’ 5-3 defeat at PSG may have extended their winless run to three games, but a double for Randal Kolo Muani is a positive for Frank.
Muani joined Spurs on loan from PSG, but his time in north London has so far been impacted by injuries.
A partnership with Richarlison in Paris gave Spurs a greater threat going forward, and may be a plan that Frank continues with going forward.
