‘It’s crazy’ – Celtic could sack Wilfried Nancy amid fans mutiny
Celtic fans are already putting pressure on the board to sack Wilfried Nancy after what has been a miserable start to life at Parkhead.
That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the board will soon be forced into making a decision to avoid further unrest.
Celtic lost 2-1 to Dundee United last time out, and have now lost four games in a row in all competitions for the first time since 1978, a damning statistic for the new boss.
Football Insider revealed on 15 December that Celtic have no plans to sack Nancy despite what was a humiliating defeat at Hampden Park over the weekend.
However, Celtic fans’ calls for Nancy to be sacked have only grown louder despite his short time in the job, and the board are already coming under pressure.

Wilfried Nancy unlikely to be sacked despite Celtic pressure
Brown told Football Insider on 16 December that Celtic are not considering sacking Nancy so soon after his appointment regardless of a poor start at Parkhead.
The former scout, who has a wealth of experience working closely alongside elite-level managers including Sir Alex Ferguson for over a decade at Man United, insisted that it would be a surprise despite the pressure from fans.
“Celtic are already being forced to defend their decisions,” he told Football Insider.
“It’s something we’ve seen a million times, the fans have already turned against Nancy, so they then direct their frustrations at the board, they feel the pressure and can be pushed into making a decision.
“We know how influential fans can be, especially at Celtic and Rangers where it is different to pretty much every other club in the world.
“Celtic have got to stick to their guns, they decided that of all the options, he was the one they wanted to take them forward.
“They’ve obviously seen positives in him, the way his teams set up, and the way he is off the pitch that made them think he would be the man for them.
“So it would come as a surprise if they suddenly changed their mind on that after a couple of bad results while he’s still getting his feet under the table.
“It’s a crazy thing in football these days, you lose two games and the fans already want you out, but the club have to be confident in the decisions they make.”
Celtic told they must not repeat Brendan Rodgers mistakes
Despite their early decision to back Nancy against the waves of fan pressure, Celtic have been told they must also support him financially when the window opens.
Brown told Football Insider on 15 December that Celtic made a “huge” mistake with Brendan Rodgers by not throwing money behind his ambitions to make progress.
Rodgers resigned as manager of Celtic in explosive fashion after his second spell at the club, against a backdrop of disagreements with the board over transfer strategy.

Brown first told Football Insider in August that Rodgers would walk away from Celtic amid growing frustrations with this summer’s transfer activity at Parkhead.
However, after a terrible start to the season and with Hearts set to be leading the SPFL at Christmas, they must now be aware that investment is a requirement.
