‘It’s his first job’ – Le Tissier fears for Keith Andrews amid Brentford exodus

Keith Andrews will struggle to replicate the magic that Thomas Frank brought to Brentford.

That is the view of former England and Southampton striker Matt Le Tissier, who told Football Insider the loss of big stars will make life difficult for the Irish manager.

Following a seven-year stint in charge, Frank departed Brentford to join Tottenham, replacing the outgoing Ange Postecoglou.

The Danish boss’ departure has also coincided with the exit of Bryan Mbeumo to Man United, and Christian Norgaard’s move to Arsenal.

And rather than look outwards, Brentford instead chose the route of an internal hire, promoting Andrews from his role of set-piece coach to manager, despite never having managed a senior side.

Brentford might lose Yoane Wissa

This article contains exclusive comment from former Southampton and England striker Matt Le Tissier.

Not only have Brentford lost Mbeumo and Norgaard, but they may also have to cope with the departure of Al-Nassr and Newcastle target Yoane Wissa before the season starts.

The trio scored 44 of the Bees’ 66 Premier League goals last season and their departures will be a massive blow.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider previously, Le Tissier tipped Brentford for relegation following those key departures.

The Premier League great also highlighted his concerns over Andrews by saying: “They’ve lost a lot of firepower, they might lose Wissa before the season starts, and a new manager in place.

“It’s his first job in the Premier League as a manager, I think it could be a bit of a struggle for him.”

Brentford eye shock move for Leicester midfielder

The Bees signed Jordan Henderson to reinforce their midfield this summer, but are still keen to continue adding to Andrews’ options.

As a consequence, Brentford are eyeing Leicester’s Harry Winks as a transfer target.

The former Tottenham man joined the Foxes in 2023, but may be keen to move on following their relegation.

Brentford hold a long-standing interest in Winks and may look to sign him as a Norgaard replacement this summer.
