Ivan Toney: Big Tottenham update today, West Ham and Everton ‘have made moves’

Tottenham’s hope of signing Ivan Toney in January have hit a big hurdle as Everton and West Ham make moves.

Since Thomas Frank headed to north London, Toney has been linked with a move to Tottenham in a reunion with his former manager.

The forward has been receiving much attention from the Premier League, with former Man United senior scout Mick Brown exclusively telling Football Insider that Everton are desperate to sign Toney.

West Ham are also interested in Toney, highlighting all three clubs’ dire need for a potent goalscorer in January.

Wages remain an issue for Toney deal as Tottenham will look to revisit in summer

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, it looks like a deal for the Englishman is slipping further away from Frank in January with a summer deal more likely.

Sources told Football Insider on 24 October that Toney’s high wages would prevent Tottenham signing him, a key factor which remains unchanged given his lucrative deal in Saudi Arabia.

Speaking on the Inside Track podcast, I explained: “I think it’s well known that Tottenham are in the market for attacking reinforcements in January, whether that’s a wide forward or a number nine, that remains to be seen in the coming weeks and months.

“There’ll be no shortage of interest in somebody like Ivan Toney. You’ve got Tottenham who are interested.

“Everton and West Ham have both sounded out a possible move for Toney as well. The problem is the cost of any particular deal is going to be very expensive due to the wages that he’s on in Saudi Arabia with Al-Ahli.

“It’s not an easy deal to do. I think the overall cost of the move will be pretty prohibitive for a deal to happen in January. Maybe in the summer it could be an easier deal to do.

“Maybe Tottenham might have to look elsewhere if they are to bring in attack and reinforcements in the January window.”

Ex-Tottenham striker Troy Parrott gathering traction from Premier League clubs

Whilst Spurs endeavour to land a new striker in the upcoming transfer windows, one of their former prodigies is being chased by European sides.

Sources told Football Insider that Premier League and Bundesliga clubs are monitoring Troy Parrott.

The 23-year-old played at the Lilywhites in his youth before heading to Millwall and is now currently excelling with AZ Alkmaar.

The Irishman was at the double in their shock 2-0 victory over Portugal on 13 November in World Cup qualifiers, only increasing his transfer figure.
