Ivan Toney to Everton: David Moyes has ‘certain’ January transfer plan

Everton have endured a mixed start to the Premier League season so far and now sit 14th in the table after nine games played.

Everton lost 3-0 to Tottenham last time out, raising frustrations at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, with their lack of goal threat leading to calls for a new striker to be signed.

Reports have claimed Ivan Toney could leave Al-Ahli on loan in favour of returning to the Premier League to boost his chances of returning to the England squad.

Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed on 21 October that Moyes is determined to bring in a new striker to Everton as he plans to replace Beto with a more regular goalscorer.

Toney has emerged as a key target for the Toffees should he return to the Premier League in the mid-season window, with plans now being put in place.

Everton plot move to sign Ivan Toney in January

Football Insider exclusively revealed on 22 October that Everton hold a concreate interest in Toney and are expected to explore a deal in the January transfer window.

Moyes is “desperate” to add a new striker to his squad amid concerns about Beto and Thierno Barry’s goalscoring record as he aims to push his side up the table.

That is according to former Man United and West Ham senior scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that a potential loan move for the striker would be a “no-brainer” for Everton.

Ivan Toney is certainly somebody Everton will look at,” he told Football Insider.

“Moyes is desperate to bring a new striker like Toney into his squad, and Toney is one of the best strikers who could be available if you look at his goalscoring record.

“If he’s available on loan especially, it should be a no-brainer for Everton to make a move.

“If you look at who else is out there, they’ve either already moved, or they’ll cost a huge fee.

“Everton can’t afford to go out and spend that sort of money, so the opportunity to sign somebody like Toney on loan is something they wouldn’t be able to pass up on.

“Plus, he’s an Everton-type player if that makes sense. He would fit in very well there.”

Moyes has previously been complimentary of Toney, who he labelled “really intelligent” and insisted he has “an awful lot of good things as a footballer”.

Everton join West Ham and Tottenham in race to sign Toney

Brown told Football Insider on 14 October that West Ham are interested in Toney and are keeping tabs on his situation in case he decides to return to England.

Neither Callum Wilson nor Niclas Fullkrug have been able to establish themselves as a regular goalscorer for West Ham, forcing them to consider options in the market.

Meanwhile, Tottenham have been linked with signing Toney amid the possibility of a reunion with Thomas Frank amid their striker concerns.

Thomas Tuchel had previously indicated Toney could be part of his squad even when playing in the Saudi Pro League, but that stance has been questioned, leaving Toney frustrated.

Should he push for a return to the Premier League, there will be no shortage of interest in his signature, with a potential three-club race already underway.
