Ivan Toney, Yoane Wissa and Ollie Watkins respond after emotional Brentford farewell
Brentford players past and present were active on social media to respond to an emotional farewell after a confirmed exit form the club.
Brentford wrapped up another impressive Premier League campaign, securing a 10th-place finish after pushing for a European spot and picking up notable wins over the likes of Newcastle and Manchester United.
But their success has come at a cost, with several key figures now attracting major interest from top clubs. Football Insider recently revealed that Man United are closing in on a move for Bryan Mbeumo, while Tottenham have also entered the race for the winger.
Now, one of the club’s former players who played a significant role in their rise to the Premier League has confirmed posted an emotional tribute after a confirmed exit from the club that prompted a wave of responses.

Pontus Jansson sends emotional farewell to Thomas Frank after Tottenham appointment
It was officially confirmed on 12 June that Tottenham have appointed Thomas Frank as their new manager, replacing the outgoing Ange Postecoglou.
The news prompted an emotional response from former Brentford captain and club icon Pontus Jansson, who paid tribute to his former manager with a heartfelt message on Instagram.
The Swede shared several photos from his time with the Bees across both the Championship and Premier League, writing that Frank is “one of the biggest reasons why Brentford are where they are today” and that he “changed [his] life” during their time together.
The message drew a wave of reactions from Brentford players past and present, with former strikers Ivan Toney and Ollie Watkins liking the post, as well as current stars Yoane Wissa and Christian Norgaard.
Jansson first joined Brentford in 2019 and was instrumental in their promotion to the Premier League in 2021, ending the club’s 74-year absence from the top flight. He returned to his boyhood club Malmo in 2023 after a successful spell in West London.
As for Frank, his seven-year stint at Brentford was nothing short of remarkable, achieving promotion and cementing the club’s place as a stable Premier League side during his tenure.

Brentford line up Edin Terzic and Kieran McKenna as potential replacements
Following Frank’s departure, the Bees have moved quickly in their search for a successor. It has been suggested that Brentford are targeting former Borussia Dortmund coach Edin Terzic as a leading candidate.
Football Insider also revealed that Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna is also under consideration at Brentford, who are weighing up their options during what promises to be a pivotal summer of change.
