‘I’ve checked with my contacts’ – Rangers told to complete ‘£4m’ midfielder signing after source’s reveal

Danny Rohl has been told which young sensation he must bring to Rangers in the January transfer window.

That is according to ex-Aberdeen, Aston Villa, and Everton chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider who is urging Rangers to sign Norway midfielder Jens Hjerto-Dahl.

Hjerto-Dahl has also captured the interest of Leeds and Brighton, with the 20-year-olds contract set to expire at Tromso in 2027.

Nico Raskin could leave Rangers if the club can get a deal for Hjerto-Dahl over the line, with Rohl set to lead the club’s January plans.

Jens Hjerto-Dahl is the ‘real thing’ amid Rangers interest

Aberdeen’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Pittodrie between 2000 and 2004, had lengthy spells as the chief of Everton and Aston Villa and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes Hjerto-Dahl is the sort of player Rangers should be signing.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness has heard positive things about the Norwegian.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I checked on him with my contacts and he is highly thought of. He’s had some good performances, not only at club level, but for the international team as well.

And I think he is exactly the type of player, but of course I’m not in Danny Rohl’s head, but I think from what I can see, he is a role type of player. And I think he’s going to cost about three and a half million, three and a half, four million. I think he would be the right type of young signing.

“He’s 20 years old. Again, a talent would come in, as we discussed, from internationally. They could then sell him on. And I would see him going quite well. I think he’s got the real thing. And so, yes, that’s exactly the sort of target they should be looking at. And we’ll see if that comes true. But he’s the one they should be grabbing, in my opinion.”

Djeidi Gassama could depart just months into Rangers tenure

One player Rangers do not want to sell in January is winger Djeidi Gassama, who is of interest to La Liga side Villarreal.

Gassama signed for Rangers from Sheffield Wednesday in the summer, and has previously played for Rohl at the Championship club.

The 22-year-old has only registered one goal and one assist for the Glasgow club in the Scottish Premiership in 16 appearances this season.
