‘I’ve got a sneaking feeling…’ – Le Tissier predicts where Brentford will finish

Brentford’s squad have taken a massive hit this summer and the club will struggle to avoid being drawn into a relegation battle.

That is the verdict of former Southampton and England star Matt Le Tissier, who told Football Insider exclusively that the Bees are likely to struggle this season.

Since their Premier League arrival in 2021, Brentford have gotten used to losing their big stars.

Ivan Toney, David Raya, and Ollie Watkins have all moved on for big fees after making their names at the GTech, and the Bees have always found a way to improve.

This year, things are different. Bryan Mbeumo departed for Man United and Christian Norgaard joined Arsenal, which was not totally unexpected. But Brentford will have to cope with the loss of the manager who guided them from Championship irrelevancy to England’s top-flight.

Brentford tipped for relegation struggle

This article contains exclusive comment from former Southampton and England striker Matt Le Tissier.

Thomas Frank’s move to Tottenham was not a huge surprise, as the Danish manager had been linked with a move to North London for much of last season.

But Brentford now find themselves in a position they have never been in before, needing to replace the man in the dugout.

Keith Andrews was chosen as Frank’s successor, and the combination of an unproven manager alongside the loss of several key players has Le Tissier worrying for the Bees.

The Premier League legend previously told Football Insider he expects Burnley and Sunderland to be relegated next season, and has tipped Brentford as a surprise choice to join them.

Le Tissier told Football Insider exclusively: “I’ve got a sneaking feeling, after the players that they’ve sold this season, that Brentford might be one of the ones that could struggle a little bit this year.

Brentford accelerate move for Bryan Mbeumo replacement

Whilst the news of the outgoing stars has dominated, the Bees have been working hard to improve their squad this summer.

Jordan Henderson joined on a free transfer from Ajax, whilst Antoni Milambo has been signed from Feyenoord.

And with plenty of cash to spend and a void on the right wing, the next order of business is finding a replacement for Mbeumo.

Pete O’Rourke told Football Insider exclusively that Brentford are accelerating a move for Dango Ouattara.

Bournemouth would prefer to keep the winger, but would be open to a sale if the price is right.
