Gabriel Agbonlahor has tipped Aston Villa to tie youngster Aaron Ramsey down to a new long-term contract amid interest from abroad.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Villa’s record Premier League goalscorer revealed he has heard a lot about the England Under-17 international who is highly-rated at the club.
The Daily Mail report European giants Ajax and Celtic have a serious interest in Ramsey whose current contract expires at the end of the season.
So far, so good! 👊

Ramsey, whose older brother Jacob has enjoyed a handful of first-team appearances this term, has trained with Villa’s first-team in recent weeks.
He was unable to play alongside his Under-23 and Under-18 teammates against Liverpool in the FA Cup third-round tie because he was a close contact of Dean Smith’s first-team group that were forced into self-isolation after a coronavirus outbreak.
Before his period of self-isolation, Ramsey had scored three goals in nine appearances for the Under-23s in Premier League 2 this season.
Asked by Football Insider whether Villa will be desperate to keep hold of the midfielder, Agbonlahor said: “I’ve heard a lot about him.
“I’ve heard that he’s a very good player, like his brother.
“I’m sure Aston Villa now have some exciting players coming through the academy, they don’t want to let any of them go.
“So I’m sure they’ll try and tie him down to a long-term deal.”
Ramsey is one of a host of young Villa academy players the club will be hoping can make the step up to regular senior action in the coming years.
Louie Barry announced his arrival with a wonderfully-taken goal against Liverpool in the FA Cup while Jaden Philogene-Bidace is another name to keep an eye on.
In other news, Football Insider can reveal a transfer has collapsed after a U-turn from an Aston Villa player.
