‘I’ve spoken to my Man City contacts’ – Keith Wyness reveals ‘fears’ behind the scenes

Man City fans have serious safety fears amid a problem with the club’s ticket transfer scheme.

That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who has spoken to his contacts at Man City about empty seats at the Etihad.

The Etihad currently holds over 53,000 spectators, with plans already happening to expand the capacity to more than 60,000.

Man City froze season ticket and matchday prices this season, with the club’s fan advisory board having become frustrated about price rises at the club.

Man City fans ‘not a happy group’

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – says away fans have been able to gain access to home sections of Etihad stadium.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness believes Man City need to resolve their ticketing problems.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Yeah, look, it seems to be a strange thing.

“I’ve spoken to a few of my Man City contacts and a lot of it is about the way that the ticket transfer scheme has been working, and it’s allowed a lot of away fans to be in some of the home sections.

“There have been some incidents certainly and certainly some fears of safety for families etc and that’s not good.

“Also, in terms of pricing, there’s been some kickback on that as well, so I think the Man City fans are not a happy group at the moment.”

James Trafford to choose between two Premier League clubs

Speculation surrounding the future of James Trafford is continuing to increase, with the goalkeeper looking set to leave the club in the summer transfer window.

Trafford would prefer to move to either Aston Villa or Newcastle, but there are multiple clubs chasing his signature.

The 23-year-old only re-joined Man City from Burnley last summer, but he has had to settle for a regular place on the bench behind first-choice goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
