Jack Butland reacts to James Tavernier Rangers training update before Man United

Rangers captain James Tavernier has provided an update from the training ground ahead of his side’s clash with Man United.

The two teams are set to go head-to-head in the Europa League at Old Trafford on Thursday night(23 January), in what could be a crucial game.

Currently, Ruben Amorim’s side are seventh in the overall group phase, one position and one point better off than the Scottish giants.

With two games to go at this stage of the competition and only the top eight guaranteed a place in the last 16, victory over Man United could be huge for Rangers.

James Tavernier, Jack Butland look ahead to Rangers vs Man United

Tavernier has recently made a return to action after a spell out with injury, and it appears he is ready to play his part again at Old Trafford.

Ahead of the game, the Rangers captain posted images on Instagram of him smiling while working on the training ground, along with the “UEL” and a “soon” emoji.

That was then liked by Jack Butland, which may hint at a potential return to action for the goalkeeper.

Football Insider reported last week that the 31-year-old is close to a comeback, having now missed his sides last six games after suffering from internal bleeding.

Football Insider Verdict

Rangers should certainly hold no fear as they head to Old Trafford to face a Man United side enduring all sorts of problems at this moment in time.

They have already impressed against one Premier League side, Tottenham, in this competition this season, so should be confident about doing the same again here.

Indeed, having senior figures such as Butland and Tavernier could potentially also help Philippe Clement’s side to pick up a vital win here, so the mood in camp ought to be positive with this update.
