Jack Grealish could be handed new role at Man City after ‘unbelievable’ reveal – pundit

Man City manager Pep Guardiola could utilise Jack Grealish in a deeper and more central role next season.

That is the view of former Premier League striker Kevin Phillips, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 26-year-old’s form at the Etihad.

Speaking to club media (19 March), Grealish admitted his first season in Manchester has been “more difficult” than he expected.

The attacking midfielder also revealed that he’s thoroughly enjoying working under the “unbelievable” Pep Guardiola.

Robinson has noticed Grealish playing in a wider role this season but expects that could change in years to come.

“Grealish has had a lot of expectation on his shoulders,” he told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs.

“He is also playing in a wider role at City and he’s adapted well.

“There is a lot more to come from him though. He is learning to play with better players around him.

“The beauty of the players at Man City, is that they can play anywhere. Grealish could drop into a more deeper, centre role in the future for City. He played a bit more like that at Villa.

“I think he has the ability to do that and we could see that in the future. At times, I think he would enjoy player in a more central role.”

Grealish has contributed four goals and three assists in 29 appearances across all competitions this season.

His contract runs until the summer of 2027.
