Jack Grealish could be ‘one-man band’ at rival club after source’s Man City reveal – Hutton

Alan Hutton has urged Man City to keep hold of his former teammate Jack Grealish beyond next summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa defender is adamant that the Etihad is the “best place” for the 27-year-old.

Grealish has been widely criticised for failing to live up to his £100million price tag in 2022.

Sources told Football Insider (18 September) that the attacking midfielder does not believe he will be at the club next season.

Privately, it is understood that Grealish does not believe Pep Guardiola’s system is suited to his style of play.

He has five years remaining on his contract.

When asked by Football Insider if Man City is the best for the England international to thrive, Hutton said: “I would like to see him flourish in a Manchester City shirt because he is more than capable.

“Right now, it is about finding the right balance for him. He needs to be a maverick and a free spirit but within a structure.

“He is still searching for a bit of that. We have seen in flashes what he is capable of.

“I want to see him winning things because I know he is driven. He wants to win trophies.

“Man City is the best place for him. There is an argument that he could go to another team and be a one-man band. That is not what he wants to be though. He wants to be part of something big and something better. That is what he is at Manchester City.”
