Jack Grealish could quit Man City after savage blow – sources

Jack Grealish could look to leave Manchester City this summer in pursuit of more regular first-team football, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke admitted Grealish could review his situation after seeing his opportunities reduced at Man City last season.

Football Insider first revealed in April the Premier League champions are willing to listen to offers for the England international as a sale could be on the cards this summer.

It is believed Pep Guardiola is not completely convinced by the winger and he is considered dispensable as the club look to bring in some extra funds to continue improving their squad.

But a deal is thought to be difficult for any interested parties to pull off due to Grealish’s high wages and Man City looking to receive a big fee to offload him.

The 28-year-old is under contract at the Etihad until 2027.

While Grealish has won plenty of trophies during his three years with Man City, his performances have been relatively mixed on a personal level.

The winger only started 10 Premier League matches last season, scoring three goals and laying on one assist, compared to the five goals and seven assists he registered in 23 starts in his side’s treble-winning campaign last year.

That saw Grealish miss out on a place in Gareth Southgate’s squad for the European Championships this summer, with O’Rourke admitting that will have come as a great disappointment to him.

The talk around the Englishman’s future is likely to rumble on throughout the transfer window as he decides whether to stay and fight for his place at the Etihad or push for a summer move.

Football Insider revealed last month Aston Villa are plotting a sensational move to re-sign their former academy product after Grealish left the club for £100million in 2021.
