Jack Grealish is the best in Europe for one key metric as full Everton stats emerge

Everton have a player among their ranks who is above every player from Europe’s top five leagues in a particular stat so far this season.

Everton have started life at their new Hill Dickinson Stadium in relatively decent form, as they currently sit eighth in the Premier League with three wins from their first seven league games.

David Moyes demanded that the club made some important signings over the summer window, with the likes of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall brought in from Chelsea and Thierno Barry signed from Villarreal for around £27million.

They have continued to be proactive away from the pitch, with James Tarkowski penning fresh terms at Everton and Jordan Pickford signing a new contract on Thursday (16 October) to tie him down until 2029.

The Toffees look to be aiming to secure European football for the first time since 2018 this season, and a certain player will be key to any success they may have this season based off his impressive start and certain underlying data so far.

Jack Grealish leads top five leagues for fouls won

Jack Grealish has been a revelation at Everton since he joined on loan from Man City in the summer, with his fine form thrusting him back into the limelight after a tough few seasons at the Etihad Stadium.

Grealish will miss Everton’s trip to Man City this weekend due to the FA’s rules around loanees playing against parent clubs, and he will be seriously missed as they aim for an unlikely result.

According to statistical gurus Squawka, via X, the 30-year-old has won the most fouls of any player in Europe’s top five leagues so far in 2025-26, with 26 from his seven appearances.

He is way out in front of other Premier League players, with Newcastle’s Bruno Guimaraes the only player from the English top-flight in their top ten list, as he comes in ninth with 19 fouls won.

Former Liverpool defender Stephen Warnock recently told BBC Sport that he sees Grealish as a “maverick,” and this stat certainly backs that notion up as players clearly find it hard to stop him in his tracks in a legal fashion.

Grealish must be consistent to earn England recall

Thomas Tuchel‘s latest England squad saw Grealish left out once more, with his last cap for his country coming back in October 2024 when Lee Carsley was still interim boss.

Grealish won the Premier League Player of the Month award for August after he notched four assists in three games, but recently admitted that he is “focused on playing for Everton” and is not sweating on a recall anytime soon.

Well-connected ex-Man United scout Mick Brown recently told Football Insider that Grealish needs to perform “consistently” for Everton to get back into contention for the Three Lions, and he faces a race against time to get into Tuchel’s thoughts before next summer’s World Cup.

He will not be able to feature this weekend against City to show Pep Guardiola what he is missing, but is surely set to continue his strong form with two weeks of rest under his belt against Tottenham on 26 October.
