Jack Grealish looks set for Manchester City return as £13m Everton transfer news emerges

Jack Grealish has been sensational since his loan to Everton, but there is no guarantee that it will become a permanent move.

The Toffees star has been David Moyes’ prize player this season, picking up six goal contributions in 16 Premier League matches.

Grealish’s struggles at Man City have long been forgotten, and the winger is now eyeing a place in the England setup ready for the World Cup.

However, it appears that Everton are not preparing to keep hold of Grealish long-term, with the Toffees eyeing a move for Ruben Vargas.

Everton eye £13m swoop for Ruben Vargas

According to Spanish outlet ABC Deportes on 28 December, Everton are looking to sign Vargas in January.

The Sevilla winger has impressed this season, registering seven goal contributions in 12 matches.

For negotiations to begin, the La Liga outfit want £13million at a minimum.

While this would be a great addition to the Toffees’ attacking frontline, it suggests that the Everton are preparing for Grealish’s departure.

This is not the first time that the Merseyside club have been linked with a winger before the January window.

The £50m buy clause for Grealish in the summer already seemed steep, and now Everton are seemingly set to send the winger back to Man City unless a solution can be found.

What has David Moyes said about Jack Grealish’s future at Everton?

In recent weeks, Moyes has played down the possibility of Everton getting hold of Grealish permanently.

Despite the winger continuing to perform at the highest level at the Toffees, Moyes does not believe that the £50m option fee is feasible for the Merseyside club.

If it did go through, the Man City loanee would become their record signing despite him turning 31 years old next season.

As a result, Moyes stated to the Liverpool Echo on 6 December that Everton are unlikely to splash £50m on Grealish.

He said: “I am sure we would have to alter that. I don’t think we would be in that ball game and let’s be fair adding everything into it, his age, it would be very difficult to pay that sort of money.”
