Jack Grealish: Pep Guardiola is turning Man City star into ‘robot’ after source reveal – Agbonlahor

Gabby Agbonlahor has backed Jack Grealish to come good at Man City.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former England forward claimed his ex-Aston Villa teammate is still getting used to his different role under Pep Guardiola.

A Man City told Football Insider last Thursday (3 February) club chiefs have privately admitted they should have signed Harry Kane instead of Grealish.

The 26-year-old has scored just three times and provided three assists in 26 games for his new club after his £100million summer move from Aston Villa.

His struggles have been put into sharp context by Philippe Coutinho who has the same number of Premier League goals and assists this season despite starting just three games.

Asked for his verdict on Grealish‘s start to life at the Etihad, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “It’s about getting used to not being the only main man, not being able to take the ball off a defender and take on a whole team, you can’t go wherever you want on the pitch.

“At Villa, he could do whatever he wanted. At Man City, you’ve got to be a bit like a robot and let the ball do the movement, not the player.

“Pep will want him to stay in his position and let Riyad Mahrez find him, let Kevin De Bruyne find him. Let Jack be doubled up on and, then, with some quick passes, Mahrez can be one-on-one.

“There’s a lot more that goes into it than people realise and it was always going to be harder.

“Once he gets used to the system and the style of Pep you will see what he can do. For me, he’s one of the best players in the Premier League.”
