Jack Grealish posts stunning message after Man City latest

Manchester City are ready to move Jack Grealish and several other big names on this summer as attention turns to outgoings.

Pep Guardiola‘s side have already spent big this summer with a £115million outlay on Rayan Ait-Nouri, Rayan Cherki and Tijjani Reijnders before the Club World Cup, and that has continued with Sverre Nypan.

Nypan’s arrival on 17 July takes Man City‘s spending beyond £125m, but Guardiola is keen to offset this with departures this summer after Yan Couto, Maximo Perrone and Kyle Walker completed moves away.

Football Insider revealed on 11 July that Grealish, James McAtee and Kalvin Phillips are top of the list as Guardiola looks to reduce his squad’s size this summer, but concrete offers for the trio are yet to arrive.

Grealish ‘never gets bored’ of training away from Man City

A number of Premier League clubs have expressed interest in Grealish this summer with both West Ham and Everton weighing up a move for the England winger, but his sizeable wages could prove prohibitive.

Dr Dan Plumley told Football Insider on 16 June that Man City and Everton would have to compromise on Grealish’s wages if he is to make a move to Merseyside, but all signs still point towards the exit door.

Grealish was left out of Man City’s Club World Cup squad in a clear showcase of Guardiola’s priorities at the Etihad, and the 29-year-old has been keeping himself fit this summer in anticipation of a transfer.

Posting on his Instagram story (24 July) while training on a rural pitch during his off-season holiday, Grealish admitted that he’ll “never get bored of training in this view” as he shared a stunning vista.

Man City must compromise to seal Grealish, Phillips transfers

Football Insider Verdict

Man City shelled out a combined £145m to sign Grealish and Phillips respectively in 2021 and 2022 with mixed results, but Guardiola is aware that recouping even a third of that amount is unlikely this summer.

Football Insider have revealed that Man City are happy to play the waiting game in order to complete Grealish’s departure on the best possible terms, and find themselves in a similar position with Phillips.

Phillips’ recent surgery will delay his departure until the end of August at the earliest, and while Guardiola has publicly declared a desire to cut his squad down to size, it’s clear that shifting two big earners off the books will be easier said than done.
