Jack Grealish reacts to ‘difficult’ Josko Gvardiol message after Man City concerns

Jack Grealish reacted to a message from Josko Gvardiol on social media after the defender asked fans “let’s move on”.

Grealish was left out of Thomas Tuchel’s first England squad as head coach of the Three Lions, having struggled for Manchester City this season.

The former Aston Villa man seemed to have finally found some form in a City shirt this season, only to suffer an injury against Real Madrid.

There have been question marks over the winger’s attitude and the Sky Blues will likely look to sell Grealish for “economic” reasons, according to Simon Jordan.

However, with some time out of the spotlight thanks to the international break, the former Villa man has shown his support for teammate Gvardiol online.

Josko Gvardiol plays key role in Croatia win over France

Following a shock 2-0 win over France in the first leg of their Nations League quarter-final, Gvardiol posted a number of photos in action against Les Blues on Instagram, captioned: “Hvala navijačima! Idemo dalje, čeka nas težak ispit u Francuskoj!”

Which translates to: “Thank you to the supporters! Let’s move on, we have a difficult test in France!”

Grealish liked the post, showing support for his City teammate as Croatia prepare for the second leg in France, on Sunday (23 March).

Man City look to sign Theo Hernandez or Andrea Cambiaso to solve Josko Gvardiol problem

Football Insider Verdict

In spite of establishing himself as one of the world’s top left-backs, there are concerns surrounding Gvardiol.

Signed for £77.6million [Sky Sports], the former RB Leipzig man was brought in with the expectation of being a rock at the heart of City’s defence.

However, the breakdown in Joao Cancelo’s relationship with Pep Guardiola, plus the injury troubles suffered by Nathan Ake, have forced the Croatian to be moved out wide.

In spite of thriving there, Gvardiol’s abilities as a defender may be hindered by a lack of experience at the position.

As a solution, City will likely turn towards the transfer market, with Theo Hernandez and Andrea Cambiaso identified as transfer targets, allowing the Croatian international to move back to his natural position.
