Jack Grealish reacts to Rangers star Jack Butland as major transfer looms

Jack Grealish has reacted to Rangers keeper Jack Butland’s latest social media post, amid news that his Manchester City exit is imminent.

Grealish made the switch to Manchester from Aston Villa for £100million back in the summer of 2020, but struggled to settle into Pep Guardiola’s side at first.

However, the winger excelled during 2021/22 as City won a historic treble, and by the end of that campaign, he looked to have found his feet at the Etihad.

Over the last 12 months though, the England international struggled for game time, starting just seven times in the Premier League last season, with Guardiola turning to the likes of Jeremy Doku instead.

Grealish’s Man City departure imminent

Grealish is expected to leave Man City this summer, as part of Guardiola’s mass clearout, with the Spaniard making it clear that he wants a smaller squad next season.

The most recent campaign was arguably the worst in the ex-Villa man’s career, as he scored just one Premier League goal.

After winning their second Serie A title in three years, Napoli could be a potential destination for the winger, with Antonio Conte reportedly keen on bringing in Grealish.

Amid the rumours, the 29-year-old took to Instagram to like a post from Rangers goalkeeper Butland, who shared a photo with his wife.

City set for overhaul

Football Insider Verdict

This summer, Man City are set for an incredibly busy transfer window, as Guardiola aims to return to the summit of the Premier League.

City are expected to sign Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan, in an attempt to rejuvenate their midfield and fill the void left by the departing Kevin De Bruyne.

Rayan Cherki has also attracted the interest of the Citizens, after picking up 19 goal contributions for Lyon last season.

It looks as if Liverpool will secure the signing of Florian Wirtz, after Guardiola’s side pulled out of the race for the German, but the Manchester side are desperate to ensure they are not left behind by the Premier League champions.

Closing a 13-point gap is a tough task on its own, let alone when the side in front is so intent on improving and adding talented players.

If Guardiola is to successfully overhaul his City squad, then he will need to get to work in the transfer market and start getting deals over the line.
