Jack Grealish sends Man City message after injury struggle confirmed

Man City progressed into the quarter-finals of the FA Cup on Saturday (1 March) with a dominant 3-1 against Plymouth Argyle.

The defending Premier League champions had to fight back from a goal down to earn a place in the final eight, with a brace from Nico O’Reilly and a 90th-minute goal from Kevin De Bruyne securing the result.

Pep Guardiola’s side are now just one game away from earning a trip to Wembley Stadium for the semi-final of the competition.

The FA Cup is currently a focal point for City this season as it is their only chance at winning silverware as they have been knocked out of the EFL Cup and the Champions League.

City currently sit fourth in the Premier League table after what has been an underwhelming campaign for the team.

Guardiola’s men will now face third-placed Nottingham Forest on Saturday (8 March) in a crucial game in the race for Champions League football.

However, City had enough to progress into the next round without a moment of magic from the England international, even though Grealish produced more dribbles than anyone in the game.

Grealish was in a celebratory mode after the game on Instagram as he said, “Not many better feelings than playing at the Etihad!! Great win boys.”

Man City have had to deal with consistent Grealish injuries

Prior to the game against Plymouth, Guardiola had addressed Grealish’s fitness issues during his pre-match press conference.

He said, “The reason Jack didn’t play much was because he was not able, he had niggles and problems.”

It’s an issue that has plagued his entire season, with small knocks meaning he’s only had limited opportunities which is highlighted by the fact he’s started just six Premier League games throughout this campaign.
