Jack Grealish sends message to Rico Lewis after rare Man City starts

Man City midfielder Jack Grealish has mocked his teammate Rico Lewis after the defender assisted the equaliser in a win over Leyton Orient.

The 20-year-old right-back played the full game in a 2-1 win over League One side Leyton Orient in stellar performance from the England international.

The O’s took a shock lead in the 16th minute, when Jamie Donley hit a speculative shot from near the half-way line, that cannoned off the crossbar and into the back of the net, via Stefan Ortega’s rear-end.

City equalised in the 56th minute as Abdukodir Khusanov scored his first goal for the Sky Blues, not that that Uzbekistani defender knew much about it, as the ball deflected off his back and in, following a shot by Lewis.

Grealish would then play through Kevin de Bruyne in the 79th minute, who deftly flicked it past Josh Keeley to help City through to the FA Cup fifth round.

Grealish returns to form for Man City as Rico Lewis puts on a show

Pep Guardiola is to blame for Grealish’s poor form, according to sources near the England international, but the former Villa man looked to be regaining some of his confidence against Leyton Orient.

Lewis looked set to leave Man City as Guardiola had limited the youngster’s minutes, but he put on a fantastic performance against the League One side.

Posting on his Instagram after the game, Lewis could be seen smiling during City’s match, Grealish then jokingly replied: “Nah what an assist.”

Erling Haaland was absent against Leyton Orient, but took the time to send his teammates a message after their win.

Tottenham loanee Jamie Donley steals the show for Leyton Orient

Whilst it will be the Sky Blues who head into the fifth round of the FA Cup, the headlines belong to Tottenham loanee, Donley.

Spurs may have found the next Harry Kane in Donley, as his loan spell at Leyton Orient mirrors the same path that Kane took before becoming a superstar.

Donley’s shot was reminiscent of David Beckham’s famous strike from the halfway line against Wimbledon.
