Jack Grealish shares instant reaction to extraordinary Erling Haaland news
Man City winger Jack Grealish has made his feelings known regarding teammate Erling Haaland’s extraordinary new contract at the club by expressing his sympathy for defenders.
The 24-year-old put pen to paper on a massive nine-and-a-half-year contract at Man City, keeping him at the Etihad until the summer of 2034.
Haaland’s previous contract was set to expire at the end of the 2026-27 season, having joined from German giants Borussia Dortmund back in 2022.
The striker’s goals have been a constant in what has been an odd season for Pep Guardiola’s side, starting all 28 of his games across all competitions, scoring 21 goals, and providing one assist in his 2476 minutes of action.
City have seemingly turned a corner after a shocking end to 2024, winning three of their last five games across all competitions having previously won one, drawn two, and lost nine of their 12 games.
Erling Haaland gets Jack Grealish seal of approval after massive Man City deal
Grealish, 29, has seriously struggled this season, starting 11 of his 20 games across all competitions, scoring one goal, and providing four assists in his 1036 minutes of action.
The winger’s one goal, a penalty in City’s 8-0 FA Cup win over League Two Salford, was his first in over a calendar year.
Clearly delighted to see his teammate sign a new contract, Grealish took to Instagram to ‘like’ the official announcement from the club.

City are set to travel to relegation-threatened Ipswich Town on Sunday (January 19) knowing a win could see them return to the top four.
They will then head to Paris for a crucial Champions League tie with PSG that could potentially see them get knocked out of Europe’s elite competition.
