Jack Grealish to be ‘banned for 10 months’ after shock betting reveal – fans rage
England fans have slammed Jack Grealish for his mid-match bet with Trent Alexander-Arnold against Finland.
Grealish revealed to ITV that he bet the Liverpool defender £500 if he scored his freekick in the 74th minute, which is precisely what the full-back went on to do.
Alexander-Arnold scored England’s second goal of the game as Lee Carsley’s side went on to defeat Finland 3-1.
Grealish opened the scoreline in the first half with his second goal in three games since Carsley took charge of the Three Lions, with Declan Rice rounding things off in the 84th minute.
The victory kept England second in Group 2 in the Nations League, with the team currently trailing Greece 3-1 after their humiliating defeat against them on Thursday.
Alexander-Arnold played both matches during the recent international break, while Grealish was only used against Finland.
England fans weren’t impressed with Jack Grealish’s bet
Grealish’s bet might’ve provided some motivation for Alexander-Arnold to score, but some fans were critical of the Man City star for gambling.
Other supporters saw the situation in a light-hearted manner and believed that it “showcases the camaraderie” within the squad.
