Jack Harrison is thrilled by confirmed Leeds United news – Whelan

Noel Whelan has insisted the attackers at Leeds United will be “licking their lips” at Brenden Aaronson’s signing.

The former Leeds striker and club ambassador, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the 21-year-old’s passing ability will be warmly welcomed by those up front for the Whites.

Leeds announced Aaronson’s capture from RB Salzburg on Thursday (27 May).

Whelan admitted Leeds had lacked strength in depth in midfield during the 2021/22 campaign.

He suggested Aaronson’s arrival would be welcomed by the likes of Jack Harrison.

Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “We did say we needed more midfield players. I think before the start of the season we’d like to have brought more midfield players in but it didn’t materialise.

“I think the fact that we’ve got this deal done now, with the front three that we have, we’ve got strength and depth in those areas. To have somebody like that behind you as a front three, they’ll be licking their lips.

“He looks like he’s got a real good eye for a pass and he’s very attack-minded. This will benefit everybody across that front three.”

Aaronson joins the Whites after helping Salzburg to a domestic double.

He also played a big role in the Austrian side’s run to the last-16 stage of the Champions League.
