Jack Harrison: Leeds plan to accept new offer as Fiorentina refuse buy option

Jack Harrison has no future at Leeds United but they look set to be forced to find a move for him this summer as Fiorentina remain uncertain about activating the buy option in his loan deal.

Harrison was sent out on loan to Fiorentina in the January transfer window after struggling for game time at Leeds following their return to the Premier League.

The 29-year-old had spent two seasons on loan at Everton prior to this campaign, with many Whites supporters against his return after he had forced an exit due to their relegation to the Championship.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, Harrison has no future at Elland Road but is also unlikely to remain at Fiorentina beyond this season.

He is set to be a part of Leeds’ transfer plans, with Daniel Farke wanting to move him on quickly if he does return in the summer.

Leeds will be open to offers for Jack Harrison amid Fiorentina uncertainty

Harrison has played 15 times for Fiorentina across all competitions so far, and started on the wing as they lost 3-0 to Crystal Palace in the first leg of their Conference League quarter-final tie on Thursday.

He recently insisted that his start to life in Serie A had been “very positive”, but seemingly needs to show more for Fiorentina to be convinced to trigger his £6million buy option.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “Leeds will probably look to move Jack Harrison on again. He’s obviously not part of the long-term plans of Daniel Farke.

“He was on loan at Everton for a couple of seasons before that move to Fiorentina. He obviously came back in at the start of this season and got a few games for Leeds, but then they have farmed him out to Fiorentina as well.

“If Fiorentina don’t take up the option to sign him, then obviously he’ll return to Elland Road in the summer.

“But I think Leeds, long-term, will look for a move away for Harrison, because I think Leeds feel they’ve got enough in their squad to cope without him.

“They feel that it’d be best for all parties if he moved on, because he is not going to be playing regularly for Daniel Farke’s side.”

Leeds also ready to sanction Mateo Joseph’s exit this summer

Leeds have several fringe players whom they are seeking to move on this summer, especially if they stay in the Premier League and look to build a more competitive squad once again.

Sources have exclusively told Football Insider that Leeds are ready to sell Joseph at the end of his own loan spell at Mallorca.

The Spanish striker has registered two goals and three assists in 30 appearances so far this term, but is not set to play for his loan side again this season after suffering damage to his ACL in training.
