Jackson and Caicedo react to Brighton ace Estupinan amid Man United claim

Brighton star Pervis Estupinan has posted a new message amid speculation around his future, prompting a reaction from Chelsea duo Nicolas Jackson and Moises Caicedo.

The left-back enjoyed another season as a regular feautre for the Seagulls, helping Fabian Hurzeler‘s side to an eighth place finish in the Premier League.

As things stand, there are still two years remaining on the 27-year-old’s contract at the AMEX Stadium, although he is looking for a move elsewhere this summer.

Earlier this week, Football Insider was told that Estupinan is keen to join Man United with the transfer window open, and the Brighton man has now spoken out amid that.

Pervis Estupinan reflects on World Cup qualifying success

Following the end of the club campaign, Estupinan was still in action during the spell of international fixtures at the start of June.

The Brighton man featured for Ecuador in goalless draws with Brazil and Peru, which were enough to secure their qualification for next year’s World Cup in North America.

The 27-year-old has now been looking back on that success, taking to his Instagram page to send a message which read: “One week away from our qualifying. WE’RE ON OUR 5TH WORLD CUP”.

In response, Chelsea duo Caicedo – who played alongside Estupinan for Ecuador in those games – and Jackson, both showed their support by liking that post.

Meanwhile, some of his Brighton teammates such as Yankuba Minteh, Diego Gomez and Igor Julio also did the same.

Brighton will want to keep their left-back

Football Insider Verdict

The Seagulls already look as though they could be facing something of a fight to keep some of their other key players during the transfer window.

This summer, Joao Pedro has already been heavily linked with a move to Newcastle, which could put the club under pressure over Estupinan’s desire to leave.

While Brighton have shown themselves to be extremely effective when it comes to plucking relatively unknown gems who can make a big impact for their side, they cannot solely rely on them.

Hurzeler is also going to need more experienced and established figures to help guide those players through the challenges of a Premier League season.

Estupinan is someone who can provide that, having been at the club for several years now, and so they will not want to let him go easily, especially when his contract situation means they do not have to.
