‘Jacob Murphy transfer update emerges as Newcastle eye new attacker signing’
Newcastle United have a clear stance on the future of Jacob Murphy amid their plans for a busy summer transfer window.
Having ended their long wait for silverware by lifting the League Cup earlier this month, Newcastle are now looking to become regular trophy winner under Eddie Howe.
To do that, they are going to have to strengthen their squad when the transfer window reopens at the end of this season.
However, as potential targets for the Magpies emerge ahead of the summer market, that has led to questions about the futures of some of those already at the club.

Jacob Murphy to remain as part of Eddie Howe’s side
It has been reported that one of the three players Newcastle want to sign this summer if a right-sided forward.
That is a role that Murphy has filled for the Magpies throughout much of the campaign so far, meaning many will wonder what might become of the 30-year-old at St James’ Park.
Indeed, Murphy has produced some excellent performances for Newcastle this season, so this interest in another right winger could raise eyebrows.
Jacob 2024/25 Newcastle stats | Total (as per Transfermarkt) |
Appearances | 31 |
Goals | 6 |
Assists | 9 |
Yellow Cards | 3 |
Red Cards | 0 |
According to the latest update from The i though, the 30-year-old still remains “central” to the plans being made by Howe at the club.
The former Norwich man has already enjoyed his best season for the Magpies in the current campaign, and is a popular member of Howe‘s side.
As a result there is apparently “absolutely no appetite to cash in” on Murphy at St James’ Park ahead of the summer despite that desire to sign a new right winger.
As things stand, there are just over two years remaining on the winger’s contract with Newcastle, securing his future at the club until the end of the 2026/27 season.

Newcastle United fans will delight in Jacob Murphy update
Football Insider Verdict
It is not just with the rest of his teammates that Murphy has become a popular figure over the course of this season.
The winger’s performances in recent times have won him plenty of admirers, not least among Newcastle supporters themselves.
It would therefore have felt extremely harsh for the club to knock him to one side, so soon after he had played a key role in one of the most memorable periods in their history.
So the fact it looks as though he is set to stay and continue to play a key role at St James’ Park will no doubt go down well among fans of the club when they know how important he can be to their success.
It will be interesting to see if that has any impact on the club’s transfer business in this position come the summer, given the competition potential signings no know they face at Newcastle for a place in the XI.
