Jacob Ramsey and Amadou Onana react as Aston Villa’s Leon Bailey sends his thanks

Jacob Ramsey, Amadou Onana and Nicolas Jackson were among those to pay tribute to Leon Bailey following the Aston Villa star’s latest update.

The winger finds himself facing an uncertain future with Unai Emery‘s side this summer, following a tough 2024/25 campaign.

Football Insider understand that Aston Villa are open to selling Bailey in the transfer window, while there are still two years remaining on his contract in the Midlands.

As that waits to be resolved, the 27-year-old is currently in action elsewhere, where he is making an impact.

Leon Bailey helps Jamaica to key win

Currently, Bailey is representing Jamaica at the Gold Cup in America, with the winger playing a significant role for The Reggae Boyz.

Early on Saturday (21 June), the Aston Villa star scored the equaliser as his national team came from a goal down to beat Guadeloupe 2-1 in their second match of the tournament.

That ensures they go into their final group stage game against leader Panama, knowing they will qualify for the quarter finals if they better Guatemala’s result against Guadeloupe.

Taking to Instagram to speak out on those latest developments, Bailey wrote: “Thanks for the support. Onto the next one.”

It was a difficult day for Jackson on Friday (20 June), as the Chelsea striker was sent off and left facing calls for a lengthy ban during his side’s Club World Cup defeat to Flamengo.

Even so, he still showed his support for the Aston Villa star by liking that post, as did several members of Emery’s side.

Onana, Youri Tielemans, Matty Cash and rumoured West Ham transfer target Jacob Ramsey were all also among those to hit the like button.

Aston Villa ace may be helped by early exit

Football Insider Verdict

Bailey will of course want to go as far as he can with Jamaica in the tournament, given how much representing their country means to any player.

Even so, from a personal perspective it may not be the worst thing if they are to suffer an early exit from the tournament.

It will not be easy for the Aston Villa man to negotiate a move elsewhere while he is away and having to focus on playing for his country.

As a result, elimination in the next few days could give him some useful extra time to sort out a transfer, and allow him to settle in quickly with a new team ahead of the start of next season.
