Jacob Ramsey, Ollie Watkins react to Youri Tielemans amid Aston Villa exit links

Youri Tielemans’ latest social media update caught the attention of his Aston Villa teammates as players continue to be linked with moves away.

Unai Emery has added just one player to his squad in goalkeeper Marco Bizot, with several academy gems finding new clubs on loan and on permanent deals at Villa Park.

The Villans will be expecting a lot more business to be done before the summer transfer window shuts, especially after missing out on Champions League qualification on the final day of the season.

Due to the squad’s sixth-place finish last term and PSR concerns emerging at Villa Park, supporters are concerned for the future of their biggest stars, including Ollie Watkins and Jacob Ramsey.

Stefan Borson told Football Insider that Newcastle would have to splash £100million to sign Watkins, with the latter most recently being linked with Nottingham Forest due to Anthony Elanga’s exit.

Youri Tielemans to stay at Aston Villa

Taking to Instagram (19 July), Tielemans shared images from pre-season training, simply captioned with football and muscle emojis before the Villans lost 3-1 to Hansa Rostock on Saturday, 19 July.

The Belgian has made 99 appearances since signing from Leicester City two summers ago, becoming an incredibly important part of Emery’s side, controlling the tempo from midfield.

Football Insider understood last month that Villa had just days to sell the likes of Tielemans, Emi Martinez, or Amadou Onana, but no such deals were completed before the PSR deadline.

Unai Emery needs a huge summer at Villa Park

Football Insider verdict

Emery continues to build the current Villa squad, having now finished seventh, fourth, and sixth in consecutive Premier League campaigns, which is a huge accomplishment.

While supporters are disappointed following their failure to secure Champions League football, especially after Thomas Bramall’s howler against Man United, there is still a lot to look forward to.

Competing in the Europa League should allow the team to reach far into the competition, drawing new players to the club and winning more prize money, but fans wanted more, nonetheless.

Keith Wyness told Football Insider that Villa may have to sell Morgan Rogers this summer, with Chelsea sniffing around for the winger’s signature, and that has been a constant trend in the window.

The manager would have been hoping to build, move forward, and improve on the squad over the coming weeks, but it seems his biggest challenge will be keeping the squad together.

Football Insider understood in April that Liverpool were focusing on Watkins as a new striker, and while Hugo Ekitike and Alexander Isak have taken centre stage, the Reds could certainly revisit a deal.
