Jadon Sancho and Man United teammate tipped to cause 'problem' after confirmed news - pundit

Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho may cause Gareth Southgate a “problem” in November if they can remain consistent for Man United, according to Paul Robinson.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Tottenham and England goalkeeper insisted the pair had not been performing for long enough to warrant a place in the recent squad.

England confirmed on Thursday (15 September) that neither had made the recent squad for the upcoming Nations League games with Italy and Germany.

Sancho, 22, scored his third goal of the season as Man United beat Sheriff Tiraspol 2-0 in the Europa League on Thursday night.

Rashford, 24, has five goal contributions in six Premier League games this season but missed the game with Sheriff due to a muscle injury.

As quoted by the Manchester Evening News after the squad announcement, Southgate revealed Rashford still has a chance of making the World Cup squad.

“He picks players that he trusts but he keeps to his word and picks players who are on form,” Robinson told Football Insider assistant editor Dylan Childs.

“Yes, Rashford and Sancho are on form at the moment but only recently. If we had this conversation two months ago you wouldn’t even consider them for the England squad

“It’s only since Man United’s upturn in form that both of them have been performing. They’ve both been performing excellently well in the last three to four weeks, but that is not longevity.

“If they continue to do it, then that gives him a problem come November time. The manager has got a decision to make then if they continue what they are doing.

“They haven’t been playing at the level that they are now for long enough.”
