Jadon Sancho and Martin Odegaard to Erling Haaland’s unexpected update

Erling Haaland posted a fresh update away from Man City as players continue to enjoy their off-season break.

Man City endured a challenging 2024/25 campaign, finishing the year without silverware in what was a rare trophyless season under Pep Guardiola.

The club acted quickly in the summer window, with Man City spending almost £115 million on new signings including Rayan Cherki, Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Ait-Nouri—brought in early to strengthen the squad ahead of the revamped Club World Cup.

However, their tournament was cut short after their shock round of 16 exit to Al-Hilal, despite hopes of bouncing back with silverware.

Haaland remained one of the bright sparks for Man City during the competition, scoring three goals and delivering strong individual performances. Still, the season ended in disappointment, with the striker unable to add to his trophy haul.

Now, with the long campaign behind him, the Norwegian has given fans a glimpse into his off-season downtime as he enjoys a well-earned break.

Jadon Sancho joins Premier League stars in reacting to Erling Haaland’s holiday update

Man City players have finally earned a break after a season that stretched almost an entire year and Haaland shared a post on Instagram while holidaying in Italy, captioned: “When in Rome…dress like it.”

The update drew plenty of reactions from fellow players, with Manuel Akanji, Kalvin Phillips, and Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard all liking the post.

One reply that may have caught attention came from Jadon Sancho, who commented “Clean” on the update. Despite being a rival on the pitch, the pair were former teammates from their Borussia Dortmund days.

While the Club World Cup ended in disappointment for City, it marked a personal milestone for Haaland as he surpassed 300 career goals in just 371 professional appearances.

The Norwegian striker carried his Premier League form into the summer tournament but was unable to lead City to silverware and the club will now look for a reset ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Although Phillips showed support for Haaland’s post, a reunion on the pitch may not happen any time soon, with the midfielder recovering from an Achilles injury.

Football Insider revealed that while Man City still plan to part ways with Phillips, he is not expected to leave the club until he has fully recovered, meaning a summer departure will be delayed.

Phillips has been linked with a return to Leeds United following their promotion, but no formal offer is expected until he regains full fitness.
